Project: Artificial Grass at Nursery, Leyland

Client: Croston Acorns Nursery and Pre-School, Lancashire

Product: Artificial grass, 30mm pile height

Area: 60m2

Background:

Serving babies and young children up to pre-school age, Croston Acorns Nursery offers we-regarded childcare facilities in the Leyland area of Lancashire.
The organisation contacted The Grass Factory because it wanted to create a new, clean and safe area on which the children could play.

The Project:

As with all our projects, we visited the site to understand the client's requirements and to advise on product options.

The site was on a steep slope under tress where the existing grass had worn away and had left the soil exposed. The sloped area had a wooden log edging which the client wanted to keep. We agreed the scope of works with the client and then began the groundwork preparation. This included grading off the soil, taking care not to damage the existing tree roots. A base of MOT Type 1 hardcore was applied, with a 25mm top layer of fine aggregate, we levelled both layers with a compaction plate in order to provide a firm base upon which to lay the grass.

The product chosen for the project was The Grass Factory's Glencoe 30 - a robust, hard-wearing yet soft-textured artificial grass, whose various features made it ideal for this application. Over this, our team applied a top dressing of silica sand to keep the pile upright and extend the life of the grass.

Result:

We delivered the project efficiently and with minimal disruption, giving the nursery's children a safe and attractive play area that feels soft and natural.
