Project: Artificial Grass at Conservative Club, Blackburn

Client: St Marks Conservative Club, Blackburn

Product: Artificial grass, 30mm pile height

Area: 74.4m2

Background:

St Mark's Conservative Club is a licensed premises and events venue located west of Blackburn town centre. Its managers contacted The Grass Factory because they wanted to create an outdoor space that could be rented out for special events and used for the club's own social functions. The premises already had an outdoor area, but it was overgrown and not used, although it had potential to be transformed for all-weather use.

The Project:

As usual, our teams began with a detailed discussion to agree an approach and the products to be used. In this case, it was agreed that the most appropriate artificial grass would be Ascot 30mm, which combines durability with a natural appearance.
The work itself began with an extensive site clearance. Once this was completed, the groundworks entailed digging out the area and inserting a treated timber batten framework which would hold the MOT Type 1 hardcore and granite dust in place. Both layers were levelled using a compaction plate to provide a solid base upon which to install the artificial grass. The Ascot grass was then cut to size and screwed to the battens. Finally, a top dressing of silica sand was applied.

Result:

The resulting area is now flat, clean and weed-free. It can be used even after wet weather and is ideally suited to hosting small outdoor functions.
